Tawid Publications

Tawid Publications is a publishing company engaged in the production of books and other printed materials, as well as audio recordings. It is accredited by the Department of Education and is a member of the National Book Development Board. It has been a recipient of project grants from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA), the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and the National Centennial Commission (NCC).

The company derives its name from the Ilocano word “for “heritage.” Its mission is to promote the appreciation of indigenous Philippine culture and to showcase the wealth of talent of our visual and performing artists, musicians, writers, poets, artisans, and craftsmen through a wide range of media — books, audio recordings, exhibits, workshops, concerts, cultural presentations, lecture-demonstrations, and audio-video materials in collaboration with its sister-company, Heritage Institute Center.

For its work, Tawid Publications has received the following awards: “Special Award” from the Book Development Association of the Philippines and the National Book Development Board for “Himig, A Collection of Philippine Folksongs, Vol. IV” (Year 2000); “KATHA Music Award” as producer of the 7-album series “Classic Philippine Sentiments: A Keyboard Treasury of Love Songs and Folksongs” (1999); KATHA “Cultural Heritage Award” for print and audio publishing projects which help showcase and preserve our Philippine musical heritage (1997); and the “Gawad Ceres S.C.
